Traces its history back to 1920 when Hadleigh H. Howd opened a law office on Main Street in Winsted shortly after his graduation from Yale Law School. He was the senior member of the firm for more than 50 years and was fondly known throughout the area as “Judge Howd,” a title recognizing his many years of service as Trial Justice in the Winchester Municipal Court. Carmine R Lavieri, past President of the Connecticut Bar Association, and the New England Bar Association, joined the firm shortly after his graduation from the University of Connecticut Law School following World War II, and continued as a partner until his death in 1984. Frank H. Finch, Jr., also a Past President of the Connecticut Bar Association joined the firm in 1959, and continued to practice for over 50 years.
